The Kingfishers
This box is painted with three kingfishers: the spotted kingfisher from Brazil, the malachite kingfisher and the crested kingfisher of Africa (Alcedo atthis, Chloroceryle inda and Alcedo cristata) as described in French on the back as follows: Le Martin Pêcheur tacheté du Brésil, le Martin Pêcheur huppé d’Afrique et le Martin Pêcheur huppé d’Europe. The inside painted with a tiny flying butterfly. The box is painted with a Vincennes turquoise celeste blue background and gold lattice decoration . It has a triple row hinge. It measures 5” X 5” X 2”. no.317.
